Oil painting in progress...

(picture taken without enough light, colors are not totally realistic)

I know it's "risky" to show my oil paintings under execution here. But! "So what?" What's life without risk? (ha ha). If this study doesn't turn out to be finished or just to be a mess I'll have to admit the failure, and that seems to be an honest challenge.
So, anyway, this is what I've been working on this last week-end. I take pictures with my phone to make them easy to post here, and now when comparing the pictures, I see I do not only go forward when painting, I also destroy what is already painted to paint it over again. Which is not so good. I'll have to keep working on it, to avoid destroying what might be good to keep.
Right now I can just imagine the joy of painting quickly and easily with lots of concentration and clear ideas of what I want to do, and how to achieve it. Even if I think that painting is always about research and solving problems and doubts, I would prefer it to be on some conceptual level instead of issues regarding only the technics of painting. My conclusion is that questionings and doubts will, or should, always be present when creating something... I hope mine will never leave me.

Figure drawing...

I had to struggle at last figure drawing session, my lines, the pen in my hand, mostly every thing felt strange. At the end I just tried to draw anyhow, I never really got into it. Some days it's just more difficult than others.

Trying oil painting...

I'm trying to learn how to use oil painting by myself. These are my first studies...

Engraving, last state of pine cone...

Here is the last state of the engraving of my pine cone. I'll see if I should modify something later on, I'm not sure of the density of the cast shadow, and it's a little difficult to make it turn out the same on each impression, the pine cone itself doesn't turn out with surprises, but the cast shadow has been playing around with me. I think I start to understand how it works when doing a little bigger surface in more or less one value. It's a little tricky, but in another hundred tries, tests and printings I hope I'll get it.

Figure drawing

Having no weekly figure drawing session this season it started to make me feel this missing exercise. I will have to do otherwise to cover the need of this kind of work. I'll will have to look for some place to draw, or find some other solution, to continue this regular work.

(These are 20 minutes and five minute poses)

Watercolor sketches today...

A few more pages in my sketchbook for the "Sketchbook World Tour 2012".

My new small Moleskine...

This is my new small Moleskine, which I've decided to fill each page up with any drawing, whatever I like to draw and however it comes out. The only thing I want to oblige myself to do is to be concentrated and it's not always easy to do so when working in a sketchbook, at least for me.

Engraving in progress...

Engraving sessions started for another year. This is my first one this week and I work as usual "from life", as when I draw...
I have worked further than this on it, but I'm not convinced of what I've done since, I'll have to pay attention, just like when drawing, not to overwork it.
I think this one is kind of pleasant as it is here actually. I tend to prefer what feels sketchy and not finished in general. I get easily bored about the result when it's supposed to be "finished".
